Well, it finally happened. I got my very first speeding ticket. I was on my way back to work from lunch jamming to Katy Perry's new song "Roar" (which is an amazing song for some cardio by the way) and I looked in my mirror and saw lights a flashin. Let me tell ya, those motorcycle cops are sneaky lil guys. I was totally doing 50mph in a 35mph zone...my bad Mr. Motorcycle Cop. I've been pulled over twice before and managed to get away with a warning each time. I guess I've lost my charm because I got a ticket for excessive speeding. Stay tuned for a "Melissa Goes to Court" post in the near future. It should be interesting.
Other than that, my day was pretty normal. For breakfast I ate my Cream of Wheat (which I'm going to have to change up soon because I'm getting bored with it), then had my 10am protein shake.
During my lunch break I weighed out 6oz of grilled chicken breast, 30g of white rice (measured dry) and 1 cup of greens. I topped it with some salsa verde to give it a little kick! I also measured out my 4pm protein shake.
As you can see, our protein is bigger than my head! We go through almost 200g of protein powder a day at our house, so we buy the big boy every time we need to stock up. I started using Isopure when I began training for my competition. Its low carb, has a good amount of BCAA's in it and I think it tastes great (we always get chocolate)! I can't recommend it enough!
In between my lunch and 4pm protein shake I ate a sugar free chocolate jello pudding cup. Yummy in my tummy!
After work we headed home to change into some gym clothes and relax for a bit before heading to the gym to get our workouts in. Today was leg day for Schoen, but I am still too sore from Sunday's leg workout to do legs again so I opted for 30 minutes of cardio on the Stair Master. I listened to that Katy Perry song I mentioned above a few times during cardio. Seriously, go listen to it, its great! I burnt just over 300 calories, better than nothing!
After I got home from the gym I walked into the kitchen to find this:
Would anyone care for a side of Oreos with their protein shake? Or a side of protein with their Oreos? THIS is why my blog is named The Fit Chocoholic. In my defense, I have not consumed any Oreos...today. Unlike Schoen, I can't eat Oreos for breakfast (yes he really does do that) and not gain a single ounce. But if i'm craving an Oreo, I'll eat an Oreo. It's a simple as that.
Yesterday the fiancé and I hit the gym directly after work for another quick and dirty workout. Tuesday=Bi's and Tri's. Here's what we did:
We completed the first two exercises as a superset. Our reps looked like: 20, 15, 10, 5, 5, 10, 20. We started at a moderate weight and then went heavier as the reps decreased and vice versa when the reps increased. We did 5 sets of tricep pressdowns each at 20 reps and finished the workout off with 100 straight reps of overhead tricep extensions using the cable machine.
So far it's been a great week of "quick and dirty" workouts! Happy hump day y'all!
