Happy Thursday and Happy National Candy Corn Day! If only I liked candy corn...
Let's get right to it shall we!
Yesterday's CrossFit workout was a modification of 'Karen'. Typically 'Karen' is 150 wall balls for time. Well, as if that is not horrible enough, the wonderful coaches over at CrossFit Alter did a modification of this workout and dubbed it 'Karen's Box', or, as I like to call it, the 9th layer of hell. We had to do 150 wall balls...and 5 box jumps every minute on the minute...all for time. Pure. Torture. I used a 14# med ball and a 20" box and managed to finish in 12:43. I had someone snap a picture of me and some of the other guys from class (I was the only girl...holla!). We all have pretty good poker faces...but don't let the smiles fool you. We were exhausted.
So, my inspiration for today's at-home workout came from 'Karen's Box':
Simply do 100 burpees for time. Easy peasy right?
After you do all your burpees take a few minutes to rest. Then get out the stopwatch feature on your phone and do some core work in the form of Tabata planks. If you are unsure about what Tabata training is, I found a good article
here that explains it.
Basically you are holding a plank for 20 seconds and then resting for 10 seconds for a total of 8 rounds.
We did these after Karen kicked our butt's and I could definitely feel them. Do it, your core will thank you I promise!
