Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend!
We spent our entire weekend back home in Oklahoma! One of my best friends turned the big 3.0. last week and Schoen and I decided to book a trip home so we could be there to celebrate with her. It was so nice to see some of our friends. Here is a short recap of our weekend:
Friday
Friday morning began bright and early with a leg workout at our gym.
We did one of my new favorite exercises, front facing squats. These will be a staple in my leg and glute days going forward. They burn so good!
After getting our workout in, we headed home to finish packing, get the house cleaned up and drop Roxie off at a pet resort before we had to head to the airport.
Schoen was easy to spot in his bright green TMNT shirt!
After getting through security we headed straight to Starbucks for some coffee and some much needed food.
We both got a hot coffee and a banana. I was still hungry so I picked up a turkey and cheddar sandwich and I couldn't pass getting a chocolate croissant for snacking on the plane.
After a short one hour flight, we were back in Oklahoma!
One of Schoen's friends was waiting to pick us up when we landed. Him and his wife were generous enough to open up their home and let us stay with them over the weekend. Shortly after arriving at their house, a few more of our friends came over to hang out.
Hugs all around! The rest of our Friday night consisted of hanging out around the outdoor fire place eating pizza, drinking wine, making s'mores. The girls did a lot of chit chatting while the guys watched a basketball game.
Saturday
Saturday morning started off with the necessities; donuts from our favorite donut shop and coffee!
After filling our bellies with a few donuts and caffeinating ourselves we all cleaned up and headed downtown for lunch.
We walked along the Bricktown Canal on the way to and from lunch. We couldn't have asked for more gorgeous weather Saturday afternoon. There were a ton of people out taking advantage of the sunshine just like we were.
After lunch we drove by our old house and then stopped by to see our jeweler to get my ring cleaned and have the prongs checked.
Saturday night was spent celebrating one of my dearest friends birthday.
We had reservations at one of our favorite hibachi restaurants to eat dinner and celebrate.
The hibachi was delicious as usual but I think the highlight of the meal was her birthday cake!
Her boyfriend got her the most delicious cake I think I have ever tasted. The 3 was strawberry and the 0 was marble. I chose the strawberry and I could have easily ate that entire cake...it was THAT good.
After cake came some presents. She had opened up mine the previous night, but here is what I got her:
She teaches fitness classes at a local gym so I knew she would get some good use out of these t-shirts. I also picked her up some Quest protein bars because anything Quest rules the world.
After chatting with friends for a a few hours and snapping a few pictures, it was time to say goodbye.
I definitely shed some tears that night. It was a short trip, but we're so glad that we were able to be there to help make Jess's big 30th birthday a fun one. We've only been away from Oklahoma for 3 short months, but our city has changed so much in that short amount of time. It was great to see it again and we're looking forward to our next trip.
We caught an early afternoon flight back to Houston Sunday and upon landing we headed straight to Rosehill Pet Resort to pick up our 4 legged baby.
Although we were sad to leave our friends in Oklahoma, we were so ready to get back to this little girl.
It was definitely an indulgent trip, so we're back to our regular diet and training today. I hope your Monday has been a great one!Labels: Breakfast, Dinner, Fitness, Food, Houston, Weekend
