Memorial Day Weekend Recap

Hello and Happy Tuesday, everyone!

I hope your weekend was a fun and relaxing one! Our Memorial Day Weekend was the weekend where we ate ALL THE FOOD. The highlight was definitely our date night on Saturday evening at The Capital Grille! But we'll back up a bit before we get to that.

Early Saturday morning I woke up and headed straight to the nail salon. My nails here in dire need of some love, and date night was the perfect excuse for some pampering.

I've found my new favorite color combination. I got one layer of CND Cake Pop with one layer of CND Romantique. The lighting in the picture above makes it look a bit purple, but I promise that it creates the perfect pale pink!

After I was done at the nail salon we headed to Katy, Texas to test drive a few cars. After about 2 hours at car dealerships we were starving and headed to The Cheesecake Factory for lunch.

Schoen and I both had a Georgia Peach to drink (best drink ever!) and he ordered an omelet for lunch and I decided on the club sandwich with sweet potato fries on the side.

And we of course had to split a piece of cheesecake.

After another quick pit stop at one more car dealership, we headed home to get ready for our dinner reservation which was at 6pm.

Schoen was laughing at all the pictures I had him take/I was taking of myself. I've been living in gym clothes the past few months so I always have to document when I get all fancied up!

The photo quality of the next few pictures are definitely subpar. The lighting was very dark at the restaurant (hashtag ambiance) and I didn't want to spend too much time snapping pictures and take away from our night out.

We arrived at City Centre, where The Capital Grille is located, just before 6pm. We were able to valet park the car at the restaurant which this tennis shoe wearing girl's feet were thankful for. We were seated in a more private section in the restaurant which was also nice. Upon being seated were were handed our menus as well as an iPad.

I actually really loved that they had their extensive wine list on an iPad. We were able to sort their wines by type and then by price point. It was super easy to navigate and made choosing a good wine that was within our budget a little less overwhelming. We decided on a Pinot Noir and it was delicious

The bread they brought out was fresh, warm and carbalicious. I devoured three pieces before I had to tell myself to stop or I would ruin my dinner.

After noshing on the bread, the chef sent out a small bite for us to try. It was a small toast point with smoked salmon and a creamy dill sauce. We both agreed that it was delicious.

For our entrĂ©es we both decided on steak since that is what The Capital Grille is known for. I chose the sliced filet mignon with cipollini onions and wild mushrooms and Schoen chose the 10oz filet.

For our sides we chose au gratin potatoes and asparagus with lemon. Both of our entrées were absolutely delicious and we had not problems clearing our plates.

For dessert, we decided on hazelnut cake, naturally!

I drank a cup of coffee along side the chocolatey cake. Our waitress said the cake paired wonderfully with 12 year Macallan's scotch so Schoen enthusiastically ordered that to drink along side. I'm not a scotch girl, so I took Schoen's word for it when he said the pairing was out of this world.

After dinner we met up with a few friends for more drinks and chatting. It was such a fun night!

The next morning I made a donut run and we spent the entire day curled up on the couch watching TV and relaxing with Roxie.

The remainder of our weekend was spent relaxing by the pool before a monsoon like rain took over Houston. I think we got well over 8" of rain in less than 12 hours and we were under flash flood watch until earlier this morning. Needless to say, we are ready for the rain to stop!

Have a great Tuesday!
