Happy Monday, everyone! I hope you all had a fun and safe July 4th weekend! We spent a majority of our afternoon by a friends pool and it was a blast! We lucked out and the rain stayed away and we had great weather.
We were tasked with bringing hamburger buns to the party, but I wanted to make a yummy sweet treat to bring as well. I opted for patriotic Oreo pops and chocolate covered strawberries.
I had never made Oreo pops before and was surprised by how easy they were to put together.
The ingredients I picked up were:
- Double Stuf Oreos
- White chocolate (I used Ghirardelli white chocolate melting chips)
- Cake pop sticks
- Sprinkles
Allow the white chocolate inside the cookies to set for about 20 minutes. After that simply dunk each pop into the melted white chocolate, tapping off the excess and then immediately dip one side into sprinkles, or whatever topping you'd like. Place the prepared pop on some parchment paper and allow the coating to set.
I used a combination of red and blue sprinkles to make them patriotic for July 4th but you can make these work for any holiday!
In addition to the Oreo pops, I also made some chocolate strawberries.
I used the same chocolate I used for the Oreos and as soon as I dipped them in the chocolate, I dipped them in some blue sprinkles. I loved the way they turned out.
Did you make any fun holiday treats over the weekend?
