Hey hey! Happy Monday everyone!
How was everyones weekend?
Since Schoen was playing in a work/charity golf tournament over the weekend, my Saturday turned into a very girly 'me' day! It started off with sleeping in until 9:45am! 9:45! That is practically unheard of for me. I haven't been sleeping well the past two weeks, so when my body let me sleep until nearly 10am Saturday morning, I had no issues with getting a late start to the day. After showering and downing a few cups of coffee, I headed to Target to do a bit a shopping. I ended up buying a pair of shoes, two pairs of pants, a flannel shirt and this adorable
monogrammed coffee mug that I couldn't pass up.
I think the orange color screams fall! At just $3.99, I couldn't pass it up. Damn you Target!
After my Target run, I headed to the mall to my bi-weekly eyebrow threading appointment. Since I grew up in the Middle East, I've always gotten my eyebrows threaded. It kinda hurts at first, but you get used to it. After the mall, I headed to Starbucks and grabbed my go-to drink; a Venti Passion Iced Tea sweetened with two splendas and headed straight to the nail salon to get a manicure.
The rest of my Saturday was spent relaxing at home binge watching Dateline and How to Get Away with Murder. It was an excellent day!
I woke up a bit earlier on Sunday morning, a respectable 8:30am (my body apparently really needed the rest!). After drinking half a cup of coffee outside with Schoen, I tackled a 6 mile run with my new
CamelBak Quick Grip Water Bottle.
I don't know why, but I typically struggle the first 2-3 miles of my runs. I always seem to feel incredible once I hit mile 4. I was thankful to have a water bottle with me on my run on Sunday though. It was a bit awkward drinking from it while running, but I'll get the hang of it!
Immediately after my run I went home and drank some Cranberry Grape Aminos to help with my recovery. It was delicious and super refreshing!
After showering, eating and relaxing a bit, I got to work in the kitchen and started developing a Pumpkin Pie Protein Bite recipe. I haven't gotten it exactly how I want it yet, but stay tuned because I plan on perfecting it over this next weekend.
After messing around in the kitchen for a few hours I headed upstairs to do a quick
Grokker workout!
I was super stoked when I found out that I was selected to take part in the Grokker #faveworkout campaign through SweatPink! I was given a free 3 month premium membership to their website which has an unbelievably amazing library of yoga, fitness and cooking videos. I'll be posting more about this awesome website in the next few weeks. Make sure you stay tuned because I will be giving away a 3 month premium membership to one of my readers! This would be so perfect to someone who has an insanely busy schedule, a new mom, or for anyone who loves to get workouts in at home from time to time like me!
After my quick ab and core workout, Schoen and I curled up on the couch in our media room to watch the online broadcast of our church back in Oklahoma, Life Church.
The past few weeks I have really found myself missing Oklahoma. I don't know if it's the upcoming holiday's, or just the fact that it's almost been a year since we've moved, but I've just missed home more than usual. I decided that I needed to watch our church's broadcast to get me a little closer to home yesterday.
I first attended Life Church with Schoen back in 2013 and instantly fell in love with it. My parents let my sister and I choose when we wanted to be baptized. They felt it was something we should do in our own time. After attending Life Church for a few months with Schoen, I decided to publicly declare my new life in Christ. Our pastor, Craig Groeschel, has an immense talent of resonating with people in his sermons. He holds my attention the entire time and has the ability to make me laugh, cry and truly relate to what he is talking about.
I'm hoping to find a comparable Church here in Texas, but part of me feels like I need to keep attending Life Church, even if it is through their online broadcasts.
After we watched Church, I headed downstairs to whip up an easy dinner which consisted of baked tilapia, roasted brussel sprouts and jasmine rice.
Ok, so I've never liked brussel sprouts...until I roasted them! I'm now convinced that you can roast any vegetable you typically do not like and it is magically transformed into something you love!
