I typically have a regular protein shake (1 scoop protein powder mixed with almond milk) between my breakfast and lunch meals to help tide me over. However, my craving for ice cold protein smoothies carried over into the weekend and instead of having my usual chocolate, peanut butter and banana smoothie
, I decided to get a little creative in the kitchen on Saturday morning.
Whenever frozen berries go on sale I usually buy a bag or two of them to have on hand for recipes. I had a bag of frozen raspberries that were sitting in the freezer waiting to be used so I decided to incorporate some of them into my smoothie Saturday morning.
This chocolate raspberry and chia seed protein smoothie (sheesh, that is a mouth full!) is packed full protein and also anti-oxidants and fiber thanks to the addition of the chia seeds.
Chocolate Raspberry & Chia Seed Protein Smoothie
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 1 scoop chocolate protein powder
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- 1 tablespoon cacao powder
- ½ cup frozen raspberries
- 1 dash ground cinnamon
- Combine all ingredients into blender and blend until smooth. Enjoy!
